- Quantum key distribution (QKD), is also attracting strong interest worldwide. Both in the EU and in Germany, intensive work is being done on QKD networks. QKD promises theoretical security based on physical principles, but there are still many open questions about the security of real implementations and their use in communication networks. From BSI's point of view, the focus should therefore currently be on the use of post-quantum cryptography.
