การริเริ่มจัดกิจกรรม “วันสากลแห่งแสง” (The International Day of Light : IDL) ร่วมกันทั่วโลก เป็นงานประจำปีที่มีจุดร่วมของการนำความสำคัญหรือบทบาทของแสงที่มีนับสำคัญทั้งทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ วัฒนธรรม ศิลปะและการศึกษา การพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน รวมไปถึงสาขาที่หลากหลายของด้านการแพทย์ การสื่อสาร และพลังงาน แนวทางรูปแบบที่กว้างขวางของ “แสง” จะช่วยให้หลายภาคส่วนของสังคมทั่วโลกสามารถมีส่วนร่วมในกิจกรรมที่แสดงให้เห็นได้ว่า วิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี ศิลปะ และวัฒนธรรม สามารถที่จะทำให้บรรลุเป้าหมายของยูเนสโกได้อย่างไรกับ

“การศึกษา ความเสมอภาค และสันติภาพ (education, equality, and peace)”

จากการจัดกิจกรรมในอดีตก่อนหน้า“ปีสากลแห่งเทคโนโลยีแสงและเทคโนโลยีแสง (IYL 2015)” ที่ผ่านมา ได้มีการร่วมปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีของสหประชาชาติที่ยกระดับการรับรู้ของโลกเกี่ยวกับความสำเร็จของวิทยาการด้านแสงและการประยุกต์ใช้ รวมถึงความสำคัญของแสงต่อมนุษยชาติภายใต้การนำของยูเนสโกก่อนหน้านั้นมีกิจกรรมกว่า ๑๓,๐๐๐ กิจกรรมใน ๑๔๗ ประเทศ เข้าถึงผู้คนประมาณ ๑๐๐ ล้านคนทั่วโลก ซึ่งประเทศไทยโดยสาขาไฟฟ้าสื่อสาร สมาคมสถาบันวิศวกรไฟฟ้าและอิเล็กทรอนิกส์แห่งประเทศไทย (IEEE) ได้เข้าร่วมเป็นตัวแทนเจ้าภาพจัดกิจกรรมและประสานงานซึ่งสำเร็จผลด้วยดี โดยดำเนินงานต่อเนื่องสู่การเป็นเจ้าภาพกิจกรรมระหว่างประเทศ IDL2018 - 2023 และ IDL2024 นี้ด้วยอีกวาระหนึ่ง

Event A) LED & energy” (May 16)

“LED & Energy” - talks will be organized on the International Day of Light (IDL 2024) - May 16. This event covers for wide range of minimum technical background audiences in Thailand, started from high school student level through university, to the public. LED & power (electricity) industry with its stories on technical development, and many others will be presented by invited local manufacturers/ experts. Let's enjoy and understand on how LED & (light) energy plays important roles in our lives !

"แสงดี บ้านสบาย" -- *เปลี่ยนบ้านด้วยแสงสว่าง* (รศ.ดร.ยิ่งสวัสดิ์ ไชยะกุล คณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น) ⏰ 🔔 🕗	OPENING Talk: 8pm - "Good lighting, comfort home" -- *Transforming your home with lighting* (Assoc. Prof. Yingsawad Chaiyakul, Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University)	This IDL2024 opening topic introduces lighting fundamentals in buildings and how important lighting can change home in terms of visual and environmental aspects. First, it introduces how essential light will make the home interior transformed. Limitations of daylight and artificial lighting typically used in the house are discussed and explained. Home lighting quantity evaluation is given in this talk. The result shows potential for lighting improvement in light levels and quality. Shortly, lighting for home interiors is described at the end.

(คุณเอกรัฐ สมินทรปัญญา ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายพัฒนาโรงไฟฟ้าพลังนํ้าและพลังงานหมุนเวียน การไฟฟ้าฝ่ายผลิตแห่งประเทศไทย) ⏰ 🔔 🕣	*8:30 pm - "EGAT's Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid Powerplant Development"*** (Eakarat Samintarapanya, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT))	This IDL2024 topic, floating solar power plants with hydropower of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) as a hybrid clean energy production system will be presented. Continuous and long-term renewable energy production and clean energy are those details and objective for this talk.

"แสงและไฟฟ้า" (คุณอุดม คลอดกลาง วิศวกรไฟฟ้า 8 ฝ่ายวางแผนระบบไฟฟ้าและโครงข่ายอัจฉริยะ การไฟฟ้านครหลวง) ⏰ 🔔 🕘	*9 pm -"Light & Electricity"*** (Udom Clodklang, Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA))	Principle and application of traditional light bulbs from fluorescent and others to the recent light emitting diodes (LED), is given in this talk for non technical background audiences. It is also presented on the public serving activity of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority on replacing street light bulbs with energy saving - LEDs covering for the capital city - Bangkok and nearby areas.

"แอลอีดีกับกิจกรรมด้านพลังงานของการไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาค" (คุณลักษณาลี จั่นมุกดา การไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาค) ⏰ 🔔 🕤	*9:30 pm -"LED & Energy: activities of the Provincial Electricity Authority"***(Laksanalee Junmookda, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA))	In this IDL2024 topic, stories of LED will be given in various dimensions from its technical basic through the performance, to the applications in comparison with other traditional light bulbs. Introduction to LED selection for the best benefit to users is also emerged. Technical tour to light testing lab is also illustrated in this online talk.
